Fiona Smith

Fiona began painting about 5 years ago, initially focussing on still life and landscape. She was drawn to the simplicity of Tamsin Levene's earthenware bowls and wanted to capture the profound sense of peace and satisfaction of holding one of them in her hands. Bowls are often seen as a metaphor for the soul and she experienced a deep almost, meditative peace when painting them. Her landscapes reflect her connection with trees, particularly the UK's native beech and birch.

Recent work has focussed on a series of female nudes, caught in moments of transition from human form to an angelic state, and on a series of abstracts influenced by Sacred Geometry.

Fiona has also recently returned to her milliner's roots - this time taking inspiration from the ethereal world of the Devic Kingdom - and is working on a series of floral headpieces.
